ConnectEd Classroom is operated by Connect Education Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when students, teachers, and school staff use ConnectEd Classroom, and how we use and protect it. We provide the service to schools for educational purposes.
Information we collect
- Account information from your school sign-in provider: name, school email address, and profile picture.
- Classroom information: class rosters, assignments, submissions, practice and quiz answers, scores, progress, and messages or discussion posts made within the platform.
- Teacher content: lesson plans, course materials, and files teachers upload or link (for example from Google Drive).
- Technical information needed to run the service securely, such as session cookies and basic server logs.
How we use information
We use information only to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the educational service for the school. We do not sell student information, use it for targeted advertising, or build profiles of students for non-educational purposes. ConnectEd Classroom does not show third-party advertising.
Student data and the school
When a school uses ConnectEd Classroom, we act on behalf of the school, and student records remain under the school's control. We handle student education records consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable, and applicable state student-privacy laws. For students under 13, we rely on the school's authorization to collect information for educational use.
Sharing
We share information only with the student's school and teachers, with service providers that host and operate the platform under confidentiality obligations (for example cloud hosting and storage), or when required by law. Within a class, other students may see limited information such as a display name or avatar on class activities and leaderboards.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for sign-in and security. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Security and retention
Information is encrypted in transit and access is limited to authorized personnel. We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service to the school, and delete or return it at the school's request or when it is no longer needed.
Your choices and rights
Parents, guardians, and eligible students may review, correct, or request deletion of a student's information by contacting the student's school or us. Teachers and staff may contact us about their own accounts.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify schools.
